Hey everyone!! I’ve definitely been busy the past few weeks between starting a new job, looking for a new place, finally finding a place and now moving! While I’m still in the state of Virginia, I’ve moved to a different city. The ironic part is, this is the first city I lived in once I graduated from grad school in DC, which was (gasp!) 10 years ago! I truly feel like I’ve come full circle and will write more about that in my “Marquita’s moments” section of the blog so keep an eye out for that post! One of the goals I’ve set for myself as a consumer is to focus on shopping locally and supporting small businesses, especially Black or minority owned small businesses. During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to research Black-owned businesses and found there were tons out there with their own versions of products I use on a regular basis. In some cases, I have traded my big box brand products with products I purchase from these small businesses. Check out my video below to see some of my favorite items from 5 different black-owned small businesses! Best of all I know 3 of the 5 business owners personally, which makes buying from these businesses even more meaningful to me. I will definitely have a part 2 coming soon as well as a favorites from black/minority owned product lines!

Happy New Year everyone! Hopefully your 2021 has been off to a great start! I’m just getting back into the swing of things after taking a much needed break! One of my goals is to continue to focus on supporting and promoting minority owned businesses as much as possible.
