Savings Alert!

Paper towels 1.98 each, Ziploc bags 2.37 per box

I'm a fan of special edition items with cute prints or unique colors/designs so I was very happy to find these special deals. On top of that, my findings were during Target's household essentials stock up so I was able to get $15 off a $50 purchase of household items! Check your local Target for savings on the Mickey Mouse collections in various items. I found these 2 deals a couple of days ago. Most of the items were not marked or placed on a clearance end cap, so if you see any Mickey edition items, do a price check. There's currently a $1 off 2 Ziploc bag coupon and a 5% off Ziploc cartwheel available in the target app.

Some potential items to lookout for are:

Viva Mickey design paper towels
Mickey Ziploc bags (so far I've only found quart and gallon sizes)
Mickey shaped bath sponges
Mini body wash/bubble bath set
Full sized body wash or bubble bath ( in a Mickey container)
Mickey paper plates
Mickey paper cups
Mickey Napkins

** I've seen all of these items in at least 1 of the 4 (yes 4!) Targets I frequent within the past month. Remember that markdowns and selections can vary by store. **

Somethin’ Sweet - Sola Ice Cream Product Review

Product: SOLA Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Anyone who knows me, will tell you I am a creature of habit when it comes to my food. I like certain brands/flavors and will usually stick to those. I rarely switch up unless I’m able to get a sample of the new product before buying. In this case, Harris Teeter was having one of their super double coupon sales and Sola ice cream pints were free with coupons. I had previously tried Sola yogurt as a freebie through Harris Teeter and liked it so I decided to take advantage of the freebie ice cream.

Product background: Sola Ice Cream is created to be low in sugar, net carbs, and glycemic. In other words, somewhat healthy. According to the label, Sola uses tagatose, which is a natural type of sugar that has almost no calories and minimally affects blood sugar, which could be good news for diabetics or those watching their sugar intake in general. The ice cream is sold by the pint and comes in 8 different flavors! You may want to check out the SOLA website for more health info and see the other products they offer.

My thoughts: I LOVE Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream so I decided to make that my trial flavor. It is vanilla ice cream with bits of cookie dough and chocolate chips. The ice cream was creamy and delicious. I have also experimented with other “healthy” ice cream brands such as Halo and Enlightened and honestly SOLA is my favorite of the three. The taste was not sacrificed in this product and I didn’t feel guilty indulging. I loved it so much that I went back for 2 more pints since they were on sale BOGO and usually run almost $6 a pint. With $2 off coupons that doubled, I was able to get 2 pints for $1, plus another $3 back on ibotta! Definitely a delicious deal!

Price: almost $6 per pint 😞

Always Pure and Clean Feminine Pads - Product Review

Always Pure & Clean Pads (26 ct) regular w/ wings

I have been using the Always brand of feminine pads since the beginning of my visits from “Aunt Dot”. They are a brand I trust and still what I consider to be my favorite, most comfortable and most reliable of brands I’ve tried. Normally, I use the Always Ultra thin with wings as my go-to pads. I’ve also used U by Kotex (the regular and fitness versions) as my backups (they tend to have better sales and coupons). While U by Kotex gets the job done, they still don’t give me the confidence and comfort that my Always brand does.

I’ve seen a recent trend in natural/organic feminine products that contain little to no chemicals, dyes, perfumes, etc. It seems as more information is coming about in regards to the potential harm or long term effects of using products with certain chemicals or other ingredients has people focused on finding more natural alternatives to everyday products. I’m all about reducing foreign and harmful substances from my body and environment, but I also want to make sure the alternative is just as effective. The reviews for some natural/organic pads (like the Cora brand) were not super comforting as many reviewers stated the pads did not stay in place which resulted in leakage in some cases. As a high school teacher, I definitely can’t use a product that puts me at risk for leakage or other inconveniences so I held off on giving that natural brand a try. Recently, I came across an ad for the Always Pure and Clean Feminine Pads and decided I would give them a try when I found them in a store. As luck would have it, my favorite store, Target, happen to have these in stock with a 40% off Cartwheel!!! I figured this was as good a time to try them as any. The Pure and Clean pads (26 ct) retailed for 6.99 but with the Cartwheel they ended up being 4.19, which is about the average cost for that sized pack.

My thoughts: These pads felt and protected just like the regular Always Ultra thin that I usually wear! I could not tell any difference (other than not having the “fresh” scent that is usually with the active versions) in the pads. They were just as thin, had wings, stayed in place and protected like its original counterpart. I also loved the packaging which is a white wrapper with blue designs. I felt it matched the "pure and clean" name. I will definitely be purchasing these in the future! The only negative is the cost. From what I’ve seen, the Pure and Clean versions retail about $1-$2 higher than the regular versions. As always, natural and organic items cost a little more. My hope is since it is a new item, there will be lots of coupons and specials in order to promote the product. My advice would be to stock up during this time to keep your cost down.

Price: 6.99 per box at Target

NYX Strictly Vinyl Lipgloss - Product review

OMG ya’ll, I’ve found a new favorite lipgloss!! This was my first time trying out the Strictly Vinyl lipgloss from NYX and I’m so in love!!! I purchased a couple of tubes during Ulta’s National Liptick Day sale when most NYX lip products were 3 for $12. In the words of rapper Lil’Mama “My lipgloss is poppin!” I tried the colors Bad Girl and Baby Doll. While I love the Bad Girl red, the mauve Baby Doll color is my new favorite! It could definitely be a work to happy hour color.

NYX Strictly Vinyl in Baby Doll

This lipgloss makes my lips feel so moisturized and has a great pigment and staying power. In terms of just wearing the lipgloss, it stays put and doesn’t fade away, however it does transfer relatively easy to cups, straws, hands, etc. so be prepared to reapply after eating. It does have a slight stickiness to it but nothing any different than a typical gloss. Your lips won’t stick together or anything crazy like that. It also provides a wonderful shine but not super greasy looking. It is the perfect combination of color, shine, and moisture!
